about

!COMES OUT AUGUST 26, 2022!

That hard times inspire gripping music is nothing new. Julian Müller, Janis Rosanka, Joscha Justinski and Thomas Haumann have now created a furious album from these dark days that - recorded live in one room - captures the seething energy the quartet is known for in their concerts.

"Vorwärts Rückwärts" is a record with two title tracks. "Rückwärts" takes themes of hypocrisy and reckless behavior and wraps them into modern Krautrock. The cosmic jam that closes the piece was created spontaneously in the studio in one take and is probably the climax of the musical symbiosis between keyboard-player Joscha Justinski and guitarist Julian Müller. "Vorwärts" takes the modern dilemma that nothing, no matter how much you give, is enough and dresses it in breathless music. Before the piece suffocates in the infernal noise, singer Julian Müller hands the microphone over to bassist Janis Rosanka, who spits his title-giving lines into the inferno in the best psychedelic-punk manner. "Vorwärts! Immer weiter vorwärts!” But the new Blackberries album doesn’t end there. Almost as an encore, there is a gentle spark of hope with “A Life In Colour”. Carried by a '70s drum machine, the melody-loving track peels from the musical destruction of "Vorwärts" and closes the album with hope for a time when respect and diversity will finally be given the space they sorely need to save this broken world from the abyss.
